Fashion, Textiles, and Design at a Glance

Fashion designers and merchandisers promote and create fashion trends and meet customer needs. These students learn identification and use of common textile fibers as well as sewing equipment and tools, pattern selection and lay-out, fabric selection, how to clean textile products, techniques for alteration and repair, fashion industry processes, time management, problem solving, and communication.

Principles of Fashion and Textiles

Principles of Fashion and Textiles prepares students for occupations and higher education programs of study related to the entire spec- trum of careers in the fashion industry.

Textiles, Apparel, and Merchandising

Textiles, Apparel, and Merchandising provides a comprehensive overview of the textiles, apparel and merchandising industry specific to fashion related goods including the nature of fashion, raw materials and production, designers, retailers, and supporting services.

Advanced Textiles

Advanced Textiles will focus on the study of textiles concerning fiber, yarn, fabric construction, and finishes which affect the selection, use, and care of textiles.

Fashion and Textiles Capstone

Fashion Textile Capstone studies the evolution of Western dress from ancient times to the twentieth century. Emphasis on represen- tative style and change over time. Additionally, this course will focus on the Identification of physical features, which affect apparel quality. This class requires an instructor recommendation.
